Erode is gifted with three major rivers : Cauvery ,Bhavani and Noyyal. This gift is being washed away and the ground water in most blocks in either over exploited or critical. The district administration designed a detailed plan to harvest maximum rain during North east monsoon in all 14 blocks of the district. In just 3 months, 2084 water recharge structures were built. Around 65 % of the structures were built in critical blocks. In total these structures can save upto 23 crores litres of water every year.
