ETHICS

Ethics Preparation:

The branch of knowledge that deals with moral principles

There is a different between General Studies & Ethics Preparation:

What is It?

Take for instance in GS, one can jot down the answers in the form of facts & figures, You’ll be able to tackle even without much of a language skill.

Eg-GS 2- Money Laundering

Analysed the Question?

Are you able to fill in the gaps?

Yes- At least to an extent .

Now coming to Ethics (GS-4):

This paper is the most variable of the four General Studies Papers and the nature of questions differ widely from year to year. One should familiarise themselves with the syllabus, and the last few year’s patterns as well. As Ethics is a Philosophical paper, you tend to convey alot to make the examiner understand. Here’s comes the challenge, to convey your thought process in much lucid & crisp trait, you gotta practice alot. Once you master the way of writing for Ethics, likewise it’ll be helpful for the vocabulary in other GS papers .

Eg:

Marks: 250(10 & 20 marks)

12 Questions- All compulsory

2 Types of Questions:

125 Marks (Direct Questions)

125 Marks (Case Studies)

One Main Advantage in ethics is that, you can complete the paper in prescribed time. I’ve never heard of anyone say, I missed so & so question, due to time constraint. Current Affairs concept doesn’t apply in here, hence that’s an added advantage. One can do note making for each word in the syllabus as I’ve already conveyed in mains note making blog.

#Ethics By DK Balaji:

Apart from this, take notes of your own life incidents, famous personalities- according to the syllabus. Clarity & the difference between each word must be analysed.

eg [Aptitude & Attitude ] [Probity & Honesty].

Decoding from which part of syllabus the question has reflected is par important.

Eg-

Emotional Intelligence Here as an administrator, one has to follow the three procedures of Emotional Intelligence and they are:

●  Understand your emotions and control them

●  Understand others emotion and control them

●  Then, act according to solve the issue genuinely and effectively

Note: Questions may be asked in both Part 1 and Part 2.

Don’ts:

#Dont overdo the QUOTES, you would have memorised a lot in the process, never try to stuff them, match them if & only if the question demands so.

Eg: Question :

Quote:

#Never overwrite-Your natural flow of thoughts is a way to convey, you’ve got quality content.

Case Studies:

Don’t chase for the content in case studies while preparing, your way of presentation & logic plays a key role.

Eg: Environmental Ethics

Take a stance as an officer & give logical way forward by keeping in balance at the same time.

Finally Ethics is the Mother for all other GS papers, when you prepare quality content for ethics, you can utilise them to enrich -essay paper & optinal papers. And for this to happen daily practice is important-Start dogging for Previous Year questions & website for model answers.
